Payment Details
Reserve your dates! Pre-registration encouraged, please, and this should be arranged well in advance, as I do get quite busy. Once your preferred dates have been confirmed as available and placed on hold, you will need to purchase your tour.
Consultation: First 15 minutes always complimentary. Beyond that, the rate for discussing and / or writing options and details shall be billed at $50 per each 30 minute conversation, or fraction of. This fee will be waived upon payment of your tour.
To request a reservation, you can contact me by phone (808) 280-5299, email openeyetours@gmail.com, or click here for my reservation form.
Note: All tours are custom and private. Whoever hires me as their guide will not be grouped with other strangers for the day. Please do not request “joining another group’s tour”, as that defeats the whole purpose of hiring a “private” guide! Departure time will vary due to nature of tour, guest request, and logistics. Personal consultation with guide/guest available prior to tour. Do share any special dietary restrictions/preferences. Please wear lighter colored clothing to keep cooler, bring hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, closed shoes if you wish to do any walking, camera with extra battery/film, insect repellent if you tend to get bitten and want to take any walks outdoors, and a towel/change if you want to go in the water at any of our stops. Method of Payment: Your full payment or 50% Down Payment can be via a Visa or Mastercard Credit Card, American Express Credit Card, a personal check, company check or cashier’s check, which will only fully guarantee your day(s) with me upon receipt thereof. Payment of balances will vary according to the payment option you choose, per below. In the event of a cancellation, payments will be refunded as described below, minus a $50 non-refundable booking/cancellation fee, as other customers may be turned away once your date is reserved.
Credit Cards: I am set up to accept credit cards with Square (secure reader), and will need your full name, credit card number, expiration date, billing address, telephone number, along with date of your tour(s) and name of property where you shall be staying in the islands. Though not yet set up for secure on-line payment, I can call you to get the information from you, should you prefer not to include it in an e-mail. Use a credit card that accumulates mileage points, and rack up those travel rewards for yet another adventure!
Here are additional payment options:
1) You may wish to send your payment in full via check, to my address: Open Eye Tours, P.O.Box 324 Makawao, HI 96768, or pay the entire amount via Credit Card at the time of your booking.
2) You can send a 50% down payment well in advance via check, and remit the balance in full to be received no later than 14 days prior to the first day of your tour(s), via a personal / company check or cashier’s check; or
3) You may choose to send a 50% down payment via Credit Card or Check, and remit the balance of your payment in full on the day of the tour itself, via cash, travelers checks, or cashiers check.
Any and all cash payments will always be counted together to ensure accuracy.
When to send payment: It is best to send checks right away, so that there is no question your day is unavailable to others. In any event, funds sent via check need to be received no later than 14 days prior to your excursion. Keep in mind that things take a little bit longer to get to Hawai’i (i.e. overnight mail may actually take 3 days; next day mail as well).
Last minute bookings: If you are off-island discovering my private guide service within 14 days of a tour date, please either pay by Credit Card, send a cashier’s check, or contact me for details on doing a bank wire transfer. If you find out about my services once in the islands within just a few days of wanting to go on tour and there is an opening, you may use your Credit Card and pay in full. You might also be able to overnight a cashier’s check or do a bank wire transfer, depending on the time frame.
Note: you should consider mailing all payments with some sort of secure tracking system requiring a signature, such as US Mail Priority with return receipt, Federal Express, UPS, etc.
Cancellation policy: Tours are non-refundable unless a minimum 48 hour notice is given. Cancellations between 48 and 24 hours result in a 50% penalty; cancellations within 24 hours of departure are 100% non-refundable.
Weather clause: Here in the tropics, we sometimes encounter squalls of brief passing showers coming off the sea, or other periods of rain with gusty wind during the course of the day. Warm and refreshing, it’s a normal part of life in the islands. The weather can change very quickly, so just wait a few minutes, or drive a couple of miles, and you could experience different weather conditions or even a different climate zone! Open Eye Tours operates rain, wind or shine. However, we shall cancel our tours for extreme weather, which is the exception, not the rule. This would be only for a potentially challenging condition, where there is a national or local travel advisory stating heavy flooding, a tsunami tidal wave, a hurricane, a tropical storm, impending heavy rains creating unsafe conditions such as flash floods, mudslides, landslides, severe winds, etc. In such instances, we shall attempt to reschedule as much as possible. In the event we are unable to tour another day, you shall be cheerfully refunded your deposit in full.
In addition, the following holidays reserved are 100% non-refundable. No refunds or credits will be issued for tour services booked or canceled on Valentine’s Day, Easter, Mother’s Day, Memorial Day, Father’s Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve , New Year’s Day, and other Major U.S. Holidays.
Cancellation Fee: A non-refundable booking/cancellation fee of $50 will be assessed for all reasons of cancellation.
By signing on for an Open Eye Tour and sending payment, you agree to these terms and conditions.
